festival rebrand
A rebrand project for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. This is an annual event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is one of the most famous hot air balloon festivals in the world. Typically held every October, it spans nine days and attracts hundreds of hot air balloon pilots and thousands of visitors from around the globe. The event features vibrant displays of balloons of all shapes, sizes, and colors, with special events like mass ascensions, where hundreds of balloons take off together at once.
WORDMARK EXPLORATION
I explored various typefaces and visual elements to develop a distinctive and cohesive wordmark. I experimented with different font weights, letter spacing, and styles to create a typographic structure that conveys the desired personality. The process involved refining the letterforms to ensure optimal legibility and uniqueness. I considered the festival’s values and target audience, aligning the design choices with the brand’s colorful and playful tone.
process
I explored various color combinations and typefaces that would be successful in embodying the festival’s personality.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta exists to conduct the world's premier ballooning event, drawing in people from all over the world to attend the event for the advancement of both aerostation and friendship.
FINAL touchpoints
I chose to create five different touchpoints that I thought would be successful additions to the festival’s identity, each designed to enhance the overall experience for attendees and strengthen the brand presence.
These touchpoints include a mix of physical and digital elements, such as event signage, a social media presence, and merchandise designs. Each element was crafted to ensure consistency with the festival's theme, messaging, and aesthetic, while also engaging the audience on multiple levels. The goal was to create a cohesive and fun identity that integrates with the environment, builds excitement leading up to the event, and provides lasting impressions for attendees.
